Meeting Maggie!

This is the ultrasound of Maggie and the journaling tells of how I felt the day I found out I would be a grandmother for the first time. The journaling reads:

Maggie the first time I saw this photo was the day I learned I would be a grandmother for the first time. I was so excited as I thought I would probably never have grandchildren. I loved you the first moment I saw you. You filled my heart with love. I could not wait to meet you, and get to know your personality. I tried so hard to imagine what you would be like, a boy or a girl. My greatest wish was that you would be a healthy happy baby.

A Card and a a layout

were the projects finished today! The card needed to have stamped images which I have, I also dry embossed the edges and then inked them.

This second one was for a Christmas in July so I scrapped the photocard I received from my nephew and his family. I also added handstitching for the ribbons of the ornaments.

Wonder......

I did the page for the Heritage Challenge over at Scrapping the Moments. It's picture of my great-grandfather's store that was on Howard Street in downtown Akron in the mid-1920's I believe. The journaling reads:

My Grandmother died in 1982 I inherited her cedar chest and all the photos inside of it! I did not know who most of them were. One day I was fortunate enough to get my Mother and Great Aunt-My Grandmother’s older sister, together and they identified as many of the photos as they could. Two generations and very helpful. This photo was included in the collection. It is a picture of my Great-Grandfather’s store on one of the main streets in downtown Akron. This photo was probably taken around the mid-1920‘s. I have no idea who the ladies in the store are.
We were friends with another lady who lived in Akron, and was born in 1899. She worked for the General Tire Company. She told me how everyone would walk to downtown Akron to Howard Street to do their special shopping on Saturday’s. She told us that was where you would find the special treasures-like oranges and other fresh fruits. Also candies and products they normally could not get elsewhere.
It makes me wonder did she go to this store? My Great-Grandfather’s store? Did he wait on her? Did she talk to him? How many people found their special treasures here. Special treasures on hard wood floors-baskets of fruit, cans of goodies-maybe smoked fish-Ahhhhhh fish from the ocean in Akron Ohio! What treasures were tucked safely behind the glass in the cases? Watches? Hair ribbons? A jeweled comb for your hair? Special lace for a young girl’s wedding gown? I could go on and on. I wonder……

Believe it or not the relic here has decided to post a layout I did for the Heritage challenge. A photo of me in my junior year of high school! Yes I have humbled myself enough to do this! LOL! Have fun looking!

The journaling reads: Believe it or not when I went to school I was that quiet kid who only answered when I was sure of the right answer. I was not involved in extra-curricular activities as I usually babysitting after school. I did attend the football games in high school, but that was about it.

National Scrapbooking Day!

WooHoo! Have to scrap today! And I did! I scrapped 3 layouts today, but I am only posting two since I just finished the third, and do not like photographing them at night. This first one is a photo of Bob & I in December 2009.

This second one Is a lot of fun! The photos are from last summer and the joiurnaling tells the story!

The Journaling reads: Last year on the Fourth of July you were playing in Gramma's backyard. Maggie wanted Bobby to pull her up the slide with her jump rope, and he agreed. When she got to the top he let go and she slid down-she was not very happy but Bobby was according to the grin on his face!

Aunt Ina's Mandarin Orange Salad

is the recipe to go along with this photo for the Heritage challenge over at the Moments. I really did challenge myself with this one. I scanned a B&W photo into my computer. Then played with it in Photoshop Elements which is new to me. I got it in this sepia tone look and then scrapped this page. I really like the end result.
