Christmas Card Holder

I did get some scrapping done last evening. Ever wonder what to do with those cards you received for Christmas? You don't really want to discard them-especially the handmade ones. So I started scrapping a pocket page every year that holds the cards we received for that year. I first extended a bracket shape in length and add a perforated line to make it easier to fold.  I add an extender on each side to add the depth needed to hold the card. I add this page to the special Christmas album.

I was flattered to know that some of you will be lifting the Sympathy cards I made! That is what it is all about-sharing the inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share my creations with you.

Sympathy Cards

Unfortunately I had to make two Sympathy Cards over the weekend. Both cards were from inspiration I found on Pinterest.
The first card I made in all white and embossed the background using the Cuttle Bug branch embossing folder and layered the background with a silver pearl paper. I echoed the layering int the sentiment using Spellbinders scalloped oval nested dies.

The second card I made in yellow and white layering the background and using a Stampin Up border embossing folder then echoed the layering inside the embossed border. I used a floral stamped image and added the Spellbinder Butterfly and a punched butterfly. I used Distress Ink in Scattered Straw to stamp the image.

The font I used on both cards was Lavanderia, which is a free font but to find it you have to do a search for it as it is available at several places.

I hope by adding more information to my blog posts it will be more helpful to you. If there is anything else I can add as we go along please let me know by adding it to the comments. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to be more active then I have been oin the recent past.

New card I have been making-

is known as a Flip-it card with the dies made Sizzix! I am loving this little card and too the free class over at Scrapbook.com learning how to use it in more then one way.  Iused it as get well card as well as a birthday card just by changing the paper and the embellishments. Here is a link to the free classes: http://www.scrapbook.com/classes/category/Card_Making.

The upper card is what the card looks like folded and the lower is the open and the circle has flipped to a different look.

Maggie's Back to School

Maggie's back to school page! Maggie moved to a "middle school" this year which is grades 6,7,& 8.  The journaling reads: This year you not only moved to grade 6 but you moved to a whole new school in a new school system. The same school your mother went to for middle school.  I wish you well this year with all the changes. Love you! Gramma 10/15.

It's Your Day

This is a card I made for a challenge over at the Two Peas Refugees to use an old stamp.  The hydrangea stamp is one of the oldest stamps I own.   It is by Stampin Up, I stamped it with Versamark then heat embossed it with blue embossing powder. Next I colored it in with Stampin Up watercolor crayons and a blending pen. Next I added the small crystals to the flower centers.

The white corners are from where I scanned it into the computer and not part of the card. Thanks for looking!

A card and some Ink Blending

Adding some work done over the past day or so. Up first will be My DGD's ink blending papers. She watched some videos from the Background Check class I am taking and tried some on her own! She did a really good job and wanted to know where I had kept all that fun stuff all this time! The second is a car I found on Pinterest and lifted. It was originally done by Mothermark at Splitcoast Stampers.

Sharing an organizational tip

I have tried numerous ways of storing my scraps so that I would use them and not hate putting them away after making a layout or card I think I found my answer. I have them all sorted by color and in the small Cropper Hopper paper holders. I then put them in one of the cubes of my book cases and I have been putting them away quickly and they are really handy when I am working on a card or layout.  Here's a shot of how they look!

Organization

I have been working in my scraproom lately as it seems to be the dumping grounds for whatever can’t find a home! I purchased two new bookcases and added them to the 9 cubes I already had. I kept moving things around due to the clutter. Hopefully this will put an end to it. I also got my clear stamps organized. I used Jennifer Mc Guire’s method and it worked beautifully! You can find it on You Tube or her blog which is listed on the right side of this page.

Blue and Gold Dinner

Bobby’s scout pack had their Blue and Gold Dinner which celebrates the “Birthday” of the Boy Scouts of America. They served a spaghetti dinner, and we were entertained by another Scout group who does Native American Dancing. Bobby helped present the flags and received his bear patch.

I am back!

I know it has been a while since I posted but I just lost my mojo and have been busy. So I am back I hope. I have several ideas brewing in my head for pages so I should be here on a regular basis.  The layout I am posting today is done digitally.  We have had so much cold weather and snow that I thought I would share how high the piles of snow are getting and that we are expecting more Thursday.  Hope you enjoy it.
