Holiday Projects

I thought I would share a few of the projects I have been working on for the Christmas holiday! The first are treat boxes I made. I was making these for my DGS to take to a few friends at school. I ask him how many he needed and to my surprise he answered “25”!!!!! I quickly switched from boxes to treat bags and toppers.

Behold the Beauty

is my latest layout.

This is the Japanese Maple tree in my backyard. It is my favorite. The background photo was taken at night, then I turned it to B&W, then used a filter and blending mode on it. All products are Autumn Memories by Jana Morton,  and available at Passion2Pixels. Thanks for looking.

 

Treasured Moments

Is an artsy layout of my grandchildren. I used several filters, and blending modes.
 
The journaling reads: Like most siblings you two argue  a lot and act like you don't care about each other. Yet when one of you gets in trouble the other one is there to support the first one. This is a scene when you were hiking, and if you look closely not only are you chatting and walking together, but Maggie has her hand in your pocket Bobby.  How about that!

Used a new technique on this layout-for an artsy look.  I used the threshold filter on my photo to increase texture.

Super Heros

My grandson is so into super heros. I had the grandchildren all day Wednesday due to no school so I introduced them to  Wordle. Well the journaling here tells the result:

You are so into your super heros! You play super hero video games, dress as them for Trick or Treat, and playtime. You had a Super Hero themed birthday party.    You talk about them and when I introduced  you to wordle you even wordled all about them!  You read books about them too.  I guess it ‘s Love!!!

The Fifties

Those Were the Days is a layout I did for a Shape Challenge at Jana Morton’s new site. I dug out my albums and in one was this booklet with all these articles and photos from the fifties, sixties and seventies. This album was Dick Clark's 20 years of Rock & Roll.

Whew!!!

I have spent the last four days working in my scrap room!!!!  I have all my Christmas cards finished except for signing and addressing. Today I had my grandchildren so Maggie & I made these cute place cards for Thanksgiving.

We got the image for the Silhouette Studio online store. We added the pilgrims!  TFL!

Wordle Challenge

Have you ever heard of Wordle???? It is place where you can create cool looking word art! Jana Morton had a wordle challenge this week. You go to wordle.net and then click on create and follow the instructions. Essentially you type in the words you want to use then without commas, spaces and one set of words per line. It then mixes it up and then you can change the font, layout and color palette. Then you save it to PDF Creator. This will make more sense when you see my page.

I think this would cool to use with the Silhouette! I am going to with my DGC. Have a good one!

Junkie Jive

I posted the other day about Jana Morton’s new site. You can find it HERE. Last winter a group of us at Creative Passions who were taking her classes began calling ourselves “Jana’s Junkies”.  On her new site she has a section called the “Junkie Jive” where once a month she will feature one of her students to let everyone get to know a little more about one another. A Super Hero Birthday

Bobby celebrated his seventh birthday with a Super Hero Theme. His dad made his cake as a large 7 then added the super hero emblems.

The Way It Was

 
Journaling reads:
In 1964 Bob purchased 90 acres of property in Lewisville. 
The propery had several old buildings still on it. An old log house, a shed and
a barn.  All were built between 1850 and 1900. They were built down in a
valley , dismantled and each piece numbered and brought up to the
top of the hills and rebuilt . If you look inside the barn you can see the
original large logs that were used for the foundation and supporting
structures. Bob kept the structures as long as he could. The barn
eventually feel down and had to be removed. He sold the property
recently and the new owner took down the log house.

This log house was on the property when Bob bought his property in 1964. So rustic, and small animals had taken up residence there!

Looks Like Broccoli!

While on our way to PA to visit relatives this summer I mentioned how many trees were on the mountain sides and Bobby replied “Looks like Broccoli!”  I thought about that comparison and he is right!

I recolored most of the elements on the lower half of this layout, using different tools in PSE. Thanks for looking!

This is old barn off the side of the road in PA. I just am drawn to old barns.  I guess it is the weathered look of them and their characteristics as they age.

Be You

A collage of different expressions I caught on Bobby’s face! Love that sweet face!

I used a hexagon shape from the graphics products in PSE11. I then made an outline of the hexagon and deleted the original shape.  I duplicated  it four times more and filled the hexagon shape with color to make them into clipping masks.   I clipped my photos to the masks, and then made a white outline stroke around each one and  moved them close together.  All products from Designer Digitals.

So Very Thankful

Finally getting last week’s lesson for the class I am taking with Maggie.

Maggie is thankful for her dog, her family, her paints, and whoever made sweets! My journaling to her says:

I am thankful for your creative spirit. You have always loved coloring drawing, finger painting...anything where you could create a picture. I have many pictures of your chalk art. You even left me a message on the driveway that you had stopped while I was away.

I am thankful for your imaginative spirit also.  You can be a princess one minute and a super hero the next.  You always make little objects  into whatever you want them to be. You always love  it when I make up a story for you at bedtime when you spend the night.

I am thankful for you. You are my first grandchild, and I waited a long time for you to arrive. I am thankful for your pretty smile,
your unconditional love, the way you always run to meet me, even though you saw me the day before. I am thankful for getting to cook
and bake. with you. You truly are a gift.

Fall Hiking Spree

This is the 50th year the local MetroParks here has done the Fall Hiking Spree! Bob & I are participating this year. You need to hike eight of the selected trails to earn  your hiking staff and shield. We began our journey this week by hiking the Oxbow Trail  in the Cascade Valley Park. You have to finish all eight that you choose to do by November 30.

Instant Moments

is what you get when you want to photograph a rainbow! I caught this one the other night just at sunset. Strange thing was he had not rained since the night before. There must have been moisture in the atmosphere to be able to make this beauty!

Flight 93 National Memorial

We visited the memorial in August and it is quite an experience. They have done a lot since I was there not long after the attack. There was only a shed and chain link fence there then. All this work has been done with private donations-no tax money is used to build the memorial.

The Real Dawg Pound

Back to School

The beginning of the school year brings so much excitement to the kids this time of year. Did they get the teacher they wanted? Are there friends all in their class? I registered for a class to take with my grandchildren  called “Making Memories with Children” with Jana Morton and her girls Mia & Ellie over at Creative Passions Classes.  She has made up templates for us to use with inserts of art work and journaling included by the children.   It will make an album about the child by the time we are done in four weeks. Here are my first two layouts. I let Maggie pick some of the colors and items we used on these pages.
