Fly

Is what I called this layout of Maggie. I so loved how pretty she was Easter Sunday in this dress.   I thought the perfect time to send her this message to use during her life. The words of wisdom say:

“Be a butterfly, Spread your wings
and whatever life brings, be true to you...be You-nique!  Let the Lord guide you, to the beauty inside you, and you'll find the joy that you seek.”  Author unknown.

DANCE

DSCF7332_edited-1 copy

The journaling reads: You two were cracking me up!!! I had you over to color Easter eggs, and taking photos of you.  I set the camera on continuous shoot as I get great pics doing that. You both started dancing to the sound of the shutter.

This was too cute of a memory to not scrap it for them. They do have fun together most of the time!

You!

You!-3

This is about how proud Bobby is of his name and who he is. Whenever you call him by a silly name or a different name he will tell you I am not whatever I am Bobby. I saw this quote by Dr. Suess that reminded me so much of that I had to scrap it! The quote says: “Today you are you,, that is truer then true, There is no one alive, Who is Youer then You”.

I was inspired by a sketch from the class Finding Your Inspiration Station  with Amy Kingsford I am taking at Creative Passion Classes and a pillow with a hexagon design I saw on Pinterest.

Thanks for looking.

Friday Fast Track

at Scrapping the Moments was quite successful last evening! We had a good group posting their creative pages in the gallery. The sketch was from MME blog and was designed by Anne Subbington.  Here is my interpretation:

down by the sea 2-1

After the FFT was over I wandered over to Miss Art’s Papercrafting School and watched some of the videos of the new classes.  The one was the The Rule of Threes and the other was the Friday four class-a four minute video class. This week’s was taught by Alyssa and was a cute gift tag. So it was busy productive evening.  Sure hope your Saturday is a good one!  Happy Scrapping!!!

New challenges are up at Scrapping the Moments today!!!!

The first half challenges are being posted as we speak!!! If you need some inspiration to get those photos scrapped or need to make a card for someone hop on over and check out the new challenges or walk thru the gallery-a ton of creativity there. Here's a link-http://www.scrappingthemoments.com/

Here's the layout I did for the Die Cut Challenge which is to do a page or card with fussy cutting-you know-cut a design from patterned paper or a stamped image with a pair of scissors and add it.

I will be changing my blog up in the next few days so stay tuned!!! I may even find a new site as this one is not working very well.

American Heros

This is the story of my two paternal uncles who served in the Korean Conflict. A story that needed to be told for the furture generations.

The journaling reads:

War Heroes
This is the story of two of my paternal uncles who fought in the Korean Conflict. My Uncle Eddy-who my brother is named after-and my Uncle Will were both in Korea in the same place, same time. Eddy (Edwin) was in the Army, and Will (Wilford) was in the Marine Corp. There was a lot of fighting going on where they were at. Eddie was very near the explosion of a hand grenade and both of his legs were blown up and had to be amputated. Unfortunately he did not survive the injury. My Uncle Will buried him in the Korean ground. I have the letter that my Uncle Will wrote to his mother telling of the horror that occurred and killed his brother…her son.
Before being notified of what had occurred my paternal grandmother had a premonition. She saw a white rat dragging his back legs across her bedroom floor.
My Uncle Eddy died before I was born so I never knew him. I did have a chance to know my Uncle Will however. He passed away when I was twelve years old, from a heart attack. My grandmother had a premonition about him also before she found out he had passed away She said she saw him standing next to a car in the neighbor’s driveway waving goodbye to her as he got into a car. He was not in the vicinity of her home when he passed.
He was divorced from his wife Mickey and had two sons-James Michael and Thomas Edwin.
In my opinion both of them deserved purple hearts-one lost his life, one lost and buried his brother.

School Days

This is a layout I did for the Book of Me. It is my third grade photo and class photo. The journaling reads:  Third grade with Mrs. Jones
My teacher for third grade was Mrs. Jones. She lived a block away from the grade school I went to. One night in the spring her house caught fire during the night. She, her two sons and her husband all got out safely. But what an opportunity to teach a class of third graders about what to do in case of a fire. She walked us over to her house, and of course only saw the house from the sidewalk. At that time they still had the fire boxes on utility poles, that you would break the glass and the alarm would ring at the fire station and they knew what area you were in. She went over everything we needed to do in case of fire. Yes what an impression she made on us I still remember that walk, and seeing the ashes and the scorched roof. Thanks for the memories Mrs. Jones.

I honestly remember that so well but can not tell you who any of these kids are! LOL!

New Challenges

Here's the layout I did for the new Double page scraplift challenge over at STM.  This layout is about the musical the second and third graders at Maggie's school did for their holiday play. It's Christmas, Carol is a variation of the well known production of the same name. This was inspired by a sketch by Allison Davis.  I was so proud as Maggie sang a solo called Nobody Cares About Me.

Nobody Cares About Me

is the title of the song Maggie sang her first solo to at the schools holiday concert. We were surprised to hear she was doing one, but she did a fabulous job with it. Amazing that one little girl seven years old could get up in front of a room full of strangers and do that! She received high praise from the teachers in her school also. We are so proud of her! She never let us hear the song until the night of the concert-"It's a surprise" she said!
